Dance is the hidden language of the soul. --Martha Graham

Someone once said that dancers work just as hard as policemen, always alert, always tense-- but see, policemen don't have to be beautiful at the same time. --George Balanchine

“You have to love dancing to stick to it. It gives you nothing back, no manuscripts to store away, no paintings to show on walls and maybe hang in museums, no poems to be printed and sold, nothing but that single fleeting moment when you feel alive.”

-Merce Cunningham

show them you can do what they said was impossible ;) or better, BE THE BEST YOU!

Recital Tonight!

thatballerina:

Wish me and my fellow ballerinas good luck! I’ll smile pretty, look tall, and make people remember me!
Last year, after the recital, people were always coming up to me. “You looked so great! Good job!” I didn’t even know them. But they all remembered me. It was amazing. And I’m going to do that again this year.

good luck!i know this feeling,it is so rare and so unique <3

When you do port de bras, don’t give all the importance to the arms. Give some of it to yourself, to what you feel - and show it.” — Marika Besobrasova

Quote reblogged from Dance the Night Away with 42 notes

My parents have told me since I was little, “You’re given your body for a reason. It’s OK to be different. Being unique is a good thing.” But I always struggled to believe it. I’m stocky, muscular and short, and I wanted to be thin and flexible so bad! My mom would say, “You’re not made that way, and you’re not going to become that, so you have to learn to accept and love the body you’re in.” Well, some people are born with that appreciation, and some people have to work really hard to get there. Put me in that second camp.
